The Last Song

Casting Information

Updated April 24, 2009

Talent Source will be submitting talent to the proper Casting Directors for the Feature Film "The Last Song" starring Miley Cyrus.

If you desire professional representation we would be pleased to meet with you to evaluate your skills and abilities and offer our 30 years of experience and advice on bettering your odds of being selected to audition and be cast.

As with all legitimate agencies, there is no charge to meet with us or to be signed up as a represented actor, model or entertainer.  That process is defined elsewhere on this web site.  If you do not have proper head shot photography, we offer it by appointment and there is a charge for those services, also explained elsewhere on this web site.

Working on a Feature Film can be a fun experience, it is comprised of very long days and nights with lots of down time, so be prepared and know what you are getting into, the experience is all that you make it.

Friday, April 24th:  Many of you have contacted me to see if you are being submitted for this project, if you have a proper head shot and resume on file with us, the answer is yes, if you do not, the answer is no.  I hate to sound like a broken record ( mp3 player for you younger people ) but this is why we need these things IN ADVANCE.  By the time a project is announced, those who HAVE THEIR ACT TOGETHER are submitted first, giving them a better shot at being cast, while those who don't have it together are playing catch up and either submitting the proper materials LATE or sending in materials that don't reflect well on them and looks totally unprofessional. Please see below to see an example of what is required.

Remember you are judged by these items, they and they alone determine if you will be called to audition or cast from the photo and resume directly.

The Wednesday edition (April 15th, 2009) of the Savannah Morning News contained an error in that it referred to "certified and licensed" representation, Georgia offers NO SUCH THING, I know this very well because I (Michael Shortt) was the last person along with then State Senator Regina Thomas to try and require such legislative procedures be put in place, the useless powers that be in Atlanta would not act upon the bill or even allow it to go to committee, it died.  So feel free in knowing that your manicurist has a State license yet your Talent, Model and Sports agents do not (because there are so few of us that the State of Georgia can't make a great deal of money as opposed to the thousands of people who trim nails and cut hair, because the State of Georgia doesn't care if you are ripped off, it's about making money, not protecting their citizens and taxpayers).

The only license that an agency can have is a City or County business license, even those are not required by the traveling rip off talent and model scams that set up in hotels in the area, the same groups that make large advertising media buys in the local newspaper and on local radio and TV stations.  I have fought with the City of Savannah and Chatham County for over 20 years to police these scams and have met with very limited success, it simply is not a priority to them.

There are two styles of photos that are acceptable to submit for 99% of all projects in the Southeast.  Either a dedicated Actor's 8" x 10" head shot or a Comp card ( accepted in the South because at least 75% of those in the arts will work as both a print model and/or an actor. While Comps would be frowned upon in LA or on Broadway, Casting Directors elsewhere understand the realities of "Fly Over country").

These are standard "Head Shots", now acceptable in either Black and White or Color, traditionally "Smiles" are for Commercial Projects and "Straight" looks are usually submitted for film and television.

Talent Source offers Photography by appointment, please see that page on this web site.

Below is a very simple sample actors resume.

You may not have much to list, that's OK, everybody starts with a blank page, just put as much as you can on ONE PAGE, when you start to get more credits than you can fit on a page, one starts to edit out the weaker roles and jobs.

The order of Film,Television, Commercials and Theater does matter, DO NOT try to be different to stand out, you will stand out for sure, it will not be considered as "the Good way". Typically within each category the most recent project is at the top and the oldest at the bottom.
